Thou art the potter, I am the clay

Genre: Christianity

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
You lead me and guide me in all my ways.
When I stop at life, when I'm in a daze,
You restore and revive me with your unending grace.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
Your hands they mould me, sharpen and bend me.
Open my ears let me hear, open my eyes let me see,
Let all my tragedies reflect your character in me.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
Need I say more? I'm already exhausted.
But what is man if the Creator doesn't mould him?
For when the cat is away the mice are at play.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
My enemies have come, shall I flee?
But then I look at myself and see your work,
A masterpiece, shining in admiration and glee.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
My enemies have come, I will not flee.
I know you're here and you will always stay,
Come what may, I will testify your name!

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
I have surrendered all that I am unto you
Please assure me this phase will pass, my soul is tired,
May I always take shelter beneath your wings.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
You've taken me from nothing and moulded me
Into an art, a work of brilliance,
And by your word, I am set free.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay,
The ways you show your love, I cannot say.
Without you my life is meaningless,
Sweet my Lord, I live for thee!

About the Hillsong Peace Music Video - Rant

On the 2 nd of March 2018, Hillsong Young and Free released their first music video  that spoke of the issue of mental health which clearly wasn’t the type of video you would expect to see on a Christian Music channel. While I found the song to be extremely soothing, with the hate and false alarms being triggered around the video being dark, cultic (which I heard a little too much) or displaying creepy ghosts and bloody rain (laugh, if you like) I thought I’d break down portions of the video and explain it because oddly enough I’ve seen too many response videos and read too many articles and comments of people over-analysing the symbols on the video instead of receiving the message of God’s peace especially for those who struggle with anxiety on a mental health level. “I think for a really long time I didn’t understand what anxiety is. When I look back at my whole life I feel like I can see traces of this for as long as I can remember but it wasn’t diagnosed until I ...

My Journey Exploring the Theory of Evolution

(Prologue) What could be my stance on evolution? This was something I repeatedly wanted to address but I was usually unsure if it would find relevance on my blog. Firstly, because I’m not a theologian. And secondly because I just thought most people were way past that. For some reason I assumed this was not an argument among Christians anymore (wow, I know, my ignorance) and we’ve moved onto weightier issues. However, that is really not the case. I have seen people both within and outside the scientific community that think evolution is some sort of a tale or a conspiracy theory, sometimes even having “scientific” theories of their disapproval of the same. So here it goes!   During my days in school, I, like every other child, thought that evolution was simply a theory supported by loosely based facts and wasn’t something I should be too bothered about as a good Christian kid. I genuinely believed that Darwin and the rest of the evolutionists only wanted to have a go...

Covering My Hair - Rant

Why do I have to cover my hair when in worship? Is it because I'm a woman? Is it because it is written that I must? Oh, do you not read Scripture with contextual understanding?       Am I, then, a disgrace if my head is uncovered but my dress still modest? Are you assigning a certain costum onto me - that has no relevance right now - just because I belong to a certain gender? Why are we expected to have our dupattas draped over our hair then? And why only us, women?       Don't teach me to cover myself with a shawl over my head. Teach me, instead, to cover myself with humility, respect, love and compassion. Don't teach me about women submissiveness. Teach both the men and the women about the same humility, respect, love and compassion.       Teach us both to stand in reverence and have a heart of purity as we stand in worship beside each other, facing the same altar. Teach us to bear with each other...
